Sheiky takes $100 from Sammy’s stack, and Sammy steals $200 back. Gabe Kaplan doesn’t really get it, but the lesson I want you all to learn is this: “do not steal from a Lebanese gambler, he’ll double-do you!”.

Pot Limit Omaha Results

Been working hard on my Pot Limit Omaha game (Sam Farha’s book is not as good as I hoped it would, but it’s still a decent resource), and have taken a little risk and have joined a $10/$20 pot limit game at the casino and hoped to get some good flops as according to Sammy Omaha is a flop-oriented game…

My first hole cards were: AJKT double suited, which I knew were good. Decided to play them strong and attack right off the bat. Raised pre-flop, got re-raised (assumed I was up against AA or KK as that’s what Sammy’s book said) and just called. Flop was…. QJ9 with two diamonds. I had two diamonds. Bet out right away, got re-raised, capped it — same on 4th street when a blank came up — and made my ace high flush on the river. Other guy had a set of queens.

According to the book — that guy made a donkey play with his queens. I ended up winner for the game mainly because of this massive first hand. Ha!

I’ll probably be out for a couple days as I’ll be doing a lot of POKER POKER POKER! (imagine Marcel Luske’s poker song in the background aight!)

Anyway, I’m doing one Omaha Hi/Lo tournament tonight, and will hopefully be doing cash games for the next two days. Will be back on friday night, hopefully with a couple thousand in profit, and not a couple thousand in losses.

The Best Starting Hands in Pot Limit Omaha

This video (by expertvillage) shows us the best starting hands in Pot Limit Omaha. Not only am I not a fan of starting hand ranks in the game of Omaha (I realise theoretically they make sense, but in a game of PLO it all boils down to what draws you make on the FLOP), but the video expert is also forgetting some of my other favorites…

Double suited AK QJ, double suited AJ KQ, double suited TT99, double suited AQ KK — all very valuable imho…

The video shows the value of the drawing hand, and should show why AAA4 rainbow is not a hand you want to shove too many chips in the middle with…. (but then again, Sam Farha would play the AAA4, so who am I? )

Bob Safai moves all-in with KJ…

… and Daniel Negreanu has AK. Sammy Farha makes a good laydown with his AQ spades. Players run it twice. Well played by both of these pros, but Mr. Safai sucks out and makes a STRAIGHT on the first run — Daniel’s ace high holds up in run number two which makes it a chopped pot.

Jamie Gold considered calling here — and potentially he would have lost a big pot against Bob Safai — if he would have called Jamie’s bets, obviously… Enjoy!

Scotty Nguyen bluffs off Humberto Brenes

Got to love the Prince of Poker when he pretty much thinks the whole hand through before it even starts, makes a blackjack-related hand on his first bet, and sticks it to Humberto after showing him the 8/3 Off Suit after the bluff. Scotty Nguyen, baby.
